EMC Momentum 2012 opened in Vienna with a slew of product releases and updates.

At its 19th Momentum conference, EMC announced a series of product releases across its Information Intelligence Group (IIG) portfolio.

Emc Momentum Vienna Opens with Documentum Product Releases

EMC announced during the opening keynote its Documentum Platform 7.0, built with the vendor’s xCelerated Management System (xMS) technology. Documentum Platform 7.0 is designed to accelerate the deployment of Documentum into VMware-based private cloud environments. It also includes new security features, such as Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) compliance.

The supplier also unveiled EMC Documentum xCP 2.0, a platform designed for developing and deploying advanced business and case management solutions. EMC Documentum xCP 2.0 can be optimised for the cloud through EMC On-Demand.

EMC Captiva 7.0 is a new product from EMC which transforms paper documents, faxes and other content into digital data. Captiva 7.0 simplifies the development and deployment of capture projects in enterprises.

An updated version of EMC Document Sciences has been released in the shape of EMC Document Sciences xPression 4.5 . Document Sciences xPression 4.5 focuses on multi-channel communications and multi-channel publishing through a single rules-based template to control channel specific content and formatting.

EMC Documentum Information Rights Management (IRM) 5.1, also released today, enables secure mobile access throughout the enterprise and beyond the firewall. iPad and iPhone users can access and browse IRM-protected content as part of a typical business process.

The EMC Pervasive Governance portfolio released a new version of SourceOne File Intelligence. The EMC SourceOne File Intelligence 4.7 is designed to enable users to identify, access, classify and manage valuable content which is dispersed throughout the enterprise.

In addition EMC SourceOne eDiscovery – Kazeon 4.7 – an in-house eDiscovery and Early Case Assessment (ECA) platform – was released to simplify how legal, compliance and IT teams identify, collect and preserve the information they need across several applications and repositories.

The last product released from EMC today was EMC Syncplicity Connector for Documentum. This is designed to automate the distribution of content from Documentum users and all of the devices they use. Users can also use the xCP Designer to customise and deploy applications.

Rapid pace of change

Rick Devenuti, president of EMC's information intelligence group, told EMC Momentum Vienna 2012 the world of IT is changing at rapid pace and that the growth presents many new challenges. For example the EMC Documentum Information Rights Management (IRM) 5.1 is design to secure user access: “Users can access the resources they need and IT gets to sleep at night,” said Rick Devenuti.

Devenuti said today’s releases are the largest in Documentum history.

Devenuti  said: “EMC is pleased to deliver such a comprehensive set of products and solutions, aimed at bringing new levels of agility, productivity and intelligence to the enterprise.

"The Information Intelligence Group is focused on helping our customers transform their IT and business operations with cloud solutions to connect information to work; the integrated innovation in this new wave of releases drives us forward on that journey.”

On the new releases Melissa Webster, vice-president of content and digital media technologies at IDC, told EMC Momentum Vienna 2012: “Customers are increasingly seeking out integrated solutions to manage their unstructured information throughout its life cycle.

“There is growing awareness of the need to maximize the value of content assets in all phases of that life cycle -- from collaborative content creation and sharing, to the intelligent use of content to drive business processes, to discovery and governance -- and of the benefits of a comprehensive, integrated single-vendor solution.”

1,100 people are expected to attend the conference at the Messe Wien Congress Centre this week.
